Alameda Coast Guard Base Roofing Project

The project focus was to replace the roofing at two existing headquarters buildings for the US Coast Guard at Coast Guard Island, Alameda, CA. The work required complete removal of all existing roofing systems, totaling 40,000 SF, from the existing buildings and then replacing with new tapered insulation and built-up roofing designed to withstand 120-MPH winds. The work also included the hazardous abatement and removal of existing asbestos-insulated steam lines from the roof. All work was accomplished with minimal impact to the operations of the buildings.

Eagle Pass Bridge

This  is a design/bid/build project of a new, 95’ span, single-lane access bridge for US Customs and Border Protection across the Eagle Pass Creek. The project entailed the construction of a pre-cast and cast-in-place concrete girder bridge over the Eagle Pass Creek. The creek runs through the Eagle Pass Golf Course and provides storm drainage for the southern part of Eagle Pass. The bridge structure consists of 4, TEXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) Type 4B40 box girder beams. These beams were fabricated in San Antonio, Texas and transported to the site for placement. The bridge deck consists of cast-in-place slab with cast-in-place concrete barrier. The slab is 6” thick and conventionally reinforced. On either side of the bridge, new approach roads were constructed. A gravel road on one side and an asphalt one on the other side. Additional site work included directional and speed limit signage, seeding and planting, new gabion baskets and general site grading for the new approached.

Tracy Defense Depot

This project was a complete well rehabilitation and development of multiple Well Pumps. Design work included first benchmark testing, recording of existing pump capacity and water production rate during normal pump operation. Performed a video-cam inspection of each well, tested water quality against applicable state and federal standards and provided a written report containing findings, lab results and assessing the condition of each well. Construction services included all labor, management, supervision, tools, materials, equipment, and transportation to remove and replace all existing pumps and motors. Upgraded and added to the existing SCADA systems with new control stations mounted on the exterior of each buildings.

Martinez Construction Services was the lead design firm and provided civil and structural engineering for this new warehouse and maintenance shop for the FWS in Tennessee.  The design/build project was completed on an accelerated schedule and included the design of the building as well as site improvements.   Site improvements included new parking aprons, drainage design, site and building utilities and security improvements.  The building design included the complete architectural, structural, mechanical and electrical design for the facility.   Included in the design are a new office and crew room, storage mezzanine and restrooms.

Martinez Construction Services was the lead design firm for this design/build project and provided in-house civil and structural engineering.  The project consisted of the design and construction of a new missile launch facility at Rock Crusher Point on the island and the renovation of an existing hangar for use as a Payload Assembly Area for the launch vehicles.  The work was completed under an extremely tight design and construction schedule.  The remote nature of the island required careful planning between the design and construction portions of the team.  The exposed nature of the site also required design considerations for corrosion of the concrete and steel components. The Payload Assembly Area is a lab / tech room to be used for assembly and testing of the launch vehicles’ electronics and tracking systems.  The room was designed to accommodate the clean nature of the work and to provide adequate ventilation and lighting for the technicians using the facility.

Martinez Construction Services was the lead design firm for this design/build project. Provided the design of foundations, site improvements, control shelters, emergency generators and fuel tanks for eight large radio communications towers for the US Navy at sites in Southern California and Arizona.  The towers were located at remote, mountain top locations on the Navy’s weapons ranges.   We developed a pre-cast foundation system that allowed for pre-construction of the major elements so they could be transported to the remote sites.   Design also included security fencing, site grading and drainage and electrical systems.
